Woodpeckers - Year 2

Welcome to Woodpeckers, where children continue to develop as confident, independent learners while preparing for the exciting transition into Key Stage 2.

Mrs Darvill, supported by our Learning Support Assistants, creates a calm, welcoming and purposeful classroom where every child is encouraged to achieve their very best. Guided by our vision, Believe and Achieve Together, children develop confidence, resilience and independence as they deepen their knowledge and skills across the curriculum.

Year 2 is an important year of learning. Children become increasingly fluent readers, thoughtful writers and confident mathematicians while broadening their understanding across all curriculum subjects. Learning is carefully planned to help children make strong progress, apply what they know in different contexts and develop a genuine love of learning.

Alongside their classroom learning, children enjoy educational visits, practical experiences and creative opportunities that bring learning to life, helping them make lasting memories while preparing for the next stage of their education.
