Chair's Welcome
Wecome to the governor page of our website. Here you will find information about the role of governors, who we are and how to contact us.Â
Governors are responsibile for monitoring and evaluating the performance and effectiveness of our school, working closely with the Headteacher and staff. They act as a critical friend and are not involved in the day to day running of the school but work more strategically, looking at how we can achieve our vision of 'Believe and Achieve Together' so that every child can acheive their full potential.Â
All Governors are volunteers. Elections take place within school to elect our parent, staff and community governors. So do look our for information on future vacancies or contact me for more information.
We meet as a full board 8 times per year and then as a Finance and Premises commitee. In addition we have a number of smaller working groups, which are involved in developing and reviewing different aspects of the work of the school and for specific projects, working on areas of our School Development Plan. Governors are also linked to different subjects and are encouraged to meet with subject leaders to gain a better understanding of how the school operates. Governors are also linked to specific areas such as safeguarding, health and safety, training, special needs, pupil premium and mental health and well-being.Â
Governors can be contacted via - sarah.baxter@thringstone.leics.sch.ukÂ
or in writing via the school office.
As governors we are committed to raising standards and hope that you will work in partnership with school staffand as part of our community to fulfill our vision, goals and aspirations. We believe that Thringstone Primary School is an inclusive and creative learning environment. Where all children and adults are valued and respected and diversity is celebrated.Â
Please see below for more information about our current school governors.Â
Best wishes

Ms Sarah Baxter
Chair - Parent Governor
I was appointed as Chair of Governors in September 2021. Our son is a student at Thringstone Primary and I have volunteered in several capacities; classroom reading, parent helper. I am very honoured and excited to serve the school in a different way.
My background is in art and design and education but have held roles in several sectors including; retail, museum services, project management, theatrical costume design and corporate marketing.
I enjoy spending time with my family, serving the community, mentoring and developing business assets.
Again, I'm grateful to be appointed and look forward to serving as a governor."

Mrs Gemma Patel
Vice Chair - Parent Governor - Data Protection Officer
"I have been a parent governor at Thringstone Primary School for over 8 years. I am passionate about all children receiving the best education in an environment where they can thrive, not just educationally, but also in terms of personal development. I have lived in the area all my life, attended this primary school as a child myself and have seen my 2 children enjoy and thrive at Thringstone.
I work as a freelance marketing consultant, delivering brand & marketing strategy to businesses, and have been able to use this knowledge and experience to drive strategic development within the school.
Outside of work, I enjoy netball, walking and baking."

Mrs Diane Bull
Community Governor
My connection with Thringstone Primary School began in 1982 when my oldest child joined the school aged 5 years . All of my four children, my 3 grandchildren, and also many of the children I childminded during 40 years, attended the school which provided them with an excellent start to their educational journeys; for one of my children the words and actions of one teacher changed his life around for good at a critical time.
I was invited to become a School Governor in 2010 and there have been many changes, both in the school and in the role of a Governor, in the last 13 years. The work is often challenging but always interesting because what happens to our children in their earliest years lays a foundation that impacts them for the rest of their lives; I want that to be a positive, affirming experience for every child that attends Thringstone Primary School, so I seek to help in the work of the school in any way that I can.

Mrs Linda Gallacher
Community Governor
" After being associated with Thringstone Primary School for 40 years, 34 of them as a member of staff, I retired at almost 70, two years ago. I then became a Community Governor of this brilliant school.
I have two daughers (44 and 39) who attended the school, which was the solid foundation of their school life. They have now gone on to have extremely successful careers, one as a Respiratory Oxygen Specialist and the other as a Casting Director in Musical Theatre.
This school is very important to me, the children, staff and parents have over the years, become a big part of my life. The school does it's very best for all of their pupils and I know will continue to do so for many more children and parents in the future."

Miss Kayleigh Jones
Staff Governor
"For over 10 years, I have had the privilege of being part of our wonderful team at Thringstone and became a Staff Governor because I am passionate about our school and the community that surrounds us. In my spare time I enjoy a spot of baking and getting lost on a good book I am committed to help Thringstone continue to be an environment that has our children and their families at the heart of it."

Miss Amy Bowers
Staff Governor
My name is Amy Bowers and I am the current teaching staff governor. I have worked in education for almost 10 years, and during that time have taught children from nursery age up to Year 9.
My two main teaching passions are Phonics (early reading), and religious education. Both, I feel, are essential in preparing our children for their future lives in modern Britain.
When not teaching at Thringstone, you can find me hiking in the Peak District, open water swimming, or at the theatre.
