Behaviour & Expectations

Behaviour at Thringstone Primary School

At Thringstone, we believe that good behaviour helps children feel safe, happy and ready to learn.

We want all children to feel that they belong, are understood and can succeed. Our approach is built on strong relationships, clear routines and consistent expectations.

We have high expectations for all children, regardless of their starting point or needs.

Our school expectations are simple:

  • Be Ready
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Safe

These apply at all times, in all areas of school.

Our approach

We teach behaviour in the same way we teach learning. Children are supported to understand expectations, make good choices and improve over time.

Staff:

  • use clear and consistent routines
  • model calm, respectful behaviour
  • build strong relationships
  • address issues quickly and calmly
  • support children to reset and move forward

Staff use a consistent approach across the school so that expectations are clear and predictable for all children.

Positive behaviour

We recognise and celebrate positive behaviour every day. This may include:

  • Praise
  • House Points & Dojos
  • ClassDojo messages to parents
  • Star of the Week
  • Celebrating effort and values

When behaviour falls short

Sometimes children need support to get back on track. When this happens, staff will guide children to reflect, reset and make better choices.

This may include:

  • reminders and warnings
  • time to reset
  • support from another adult

More serious incidents are dealt with by senior leaders and parents are kept informed.

Support and wellbeing

We recognise that behaviour can sometimes reflect underlying need. Where this is the case, we work closely with families to understand what is happening and provide the right support.

This sits within our wider approach to Inclusion & Support.

Working with families

We work closely with families to support positive behaviour. If there are concerns, we will communicate clearly and work together to support improvement.
