Little Acorns Pre-School

About Us

Little Acorns Pre-School opened in September 2019 and provides high-quality early years education for children aged 2 to 4. Set within the former Thringstone Sure Start Centre, our pre-school offers a warm, nurturing and purposeful environment where children are encouraged to explore, grow and develop confidence from the very start.

As part of the Thringstone Primary School community, our work is guided by the same vision: Believe and Achieve Together. We want every child to feel safe, valued and capable, and to develop the confidence and curiosity they need to become successful learners.

Little Acorns shares the school grounds and benefits from access to excellent facilities, including the MUGA, large playing field, trim trails and Forest School areas. This helps children become familiar with the wider school environment and supports a smooth transition into Reception.

Sessions and Funding

Little Acorns operates during term time from 8.45am to 3.30pm, offering morning, afternoon or full-day sessions.

We accept:

15 hours funded childcare for eligible 2-year-olds
15 or 30 hours funded childcare for 3- and 4-year-olds

Fresh, hot meals are available from the school kitchen for children staying for lunch, or families may choose to provide a packed lunch.

Our Environment

Our setting includes two spacious rooms for different age groups, alongside a smaller space being developed as a sensory area. These environments are carefully planned to support independence, communication and early learning through play.

Following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, staff plan learning around children’s interests and next steps. Activities are delivered in small groups to ensure children receive the right level of support and challenge.

Outdoor learning plays an important role in our provision. Children have daily access to a secure outdoor area with grass, sand and a range of resources that encourage exploration, physical development and problem-solving.
