At Thringstone Primary School, we believe every day in school matters. Regular attendance helps children feel settled, build friendships, develop confidence and make the most of every learning opportunity.
We want every child to enjoy coming to school and attend as often as possible. When children attend regularly, they are more likely to feel part of the school community, achieve well and develop positive habits that support them throughout their education.
Attendance is everyone's responsibility, and we work closely with families to remove barriers wherever we can. Our approach is supportive, understanding and centred on doing what's best for each child.
We follow national guidance, including Working Together to Improve School Attendance, while placing positive relationships with families at the heart of our approach.
Working with Families
If your child is finding it difficult to attend school, please speak to us as early as possible. In many cases, an early conversation is all it takes to identify the right support and prevent small concerns from becoming bigger ones.
We monitor attendance carefully and may contact families if we notice patterns of absence or a change in attendance. Our focus is always on working in partnership, offering support and helping every child attend school regularly.
Leave of Absence During Term Time
The Government expects children to attend school every day during term time. Leave of absence will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances, in line with national guidance.
Any request for leave must be made in advance using our Leave of Absence Request Form. The Headteacher will consider each request individually, taking account of the circumstances and the school's Attendance Policy.
Unauthorised leave may result in the matter being referred to the Local Authority in accordance with national guidance.
Requesting Leave
If you need to request leave during term time, please complete the Leave of Absence Request Form before making any travel arrangements. We will consider your request carefully and let you know the outcome as soon as possible.
If you have any questions about attendance or would like to discuss how we can support your child, please don't hesitate to contact the school office. We're always happy to help.
