Accessibility at Thringstone Primary School
At Thringstone Primary School, we are committed to making sure every child and family feels included, supported and able to thrive. Guided by our vision Believe and Achieve Together, we work to remove barriers and ensure all children can take part fully in school life.
Schools are required under the Equality Act 2010 to maintain an Accessibility Plan. This sets out how we improve access for disabled pupils over time and ensure no child is disadvantaged in their education.
A disability under the Equality Act is defined as a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term impact on a person’s ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.
Our approach
Accessibility at Thringstone focuses on three areas:
-
improving access to the curriculum so all children can participate fully in learning and wider school life
-
improving access to the physical environment through ongoing site review and reasonable adjustments
-
improving access to information so communication is clear and accessible for all families
Accessibility is planned over a three-year cycle and reviewed annually by school leaders and trustees.
