Thringstone Primary School

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to improve outcomes for pupils who may be disadvantaged.

At Thringstone Primary School, this funding supports pupils who are eligible for free school meals (FSM), those who have been eligible at any point in the last six years (Ever 6), children who are or have been looked after, and children from service families.

A significant proportion of pupils at Thringstone are eligible for pupil premium, and many also have additional needs such as speech, language and communication difficulties. Leaders therefore use this funding carefully to remove barriers to learning, improve attendance and readiness to learn, and ensure pupils can access an ambitious curriculum from their individual starting points.

Our approach reflects our school vision of Believe and Achieve Together. Funding is prioritised to:

  • strengthen high-quality classroom teaching

  • secure strong foundations in reading, language and mathematics

  • provide targeted academic or pastoral support where needed

  • ensure all pupils can access wider opportunities and experiences that form part of school life

Leaders review the impact of pupil premium funding regularly through assessment information, attendance data, pupil progress meetings and monitoring of teaching. Success is measured through progress from individual starting points and increasing consistency of outcomes over time.

Our full Pupil Premium Strategy is published below. This document sets out how funding is allocated, the evidence that informs decisions, and how impact is evaluated.
