The Government has announced that it will continue to provide additional funding to primary schools to support the improvement of provision of PE and sport. Â The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer all their pupils.
Physical activity has numerous benefits for children's physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and lowering anxiety and depression), and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity can also have wider benefits for pupils and schools, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement.
At Thringstone Primary School, we are strongly committed to PE. This is evident in the wide range of activities in and out of school that we offer, including being involved in competitive sports.
We recognise the importance of PE to the health and well-being of our children and the impact the PE curriculum and extra-curricular activities can have on our attitudes, confidence and academic achievement of all children.
