About Us

Little Acorns Pre-School opened in September 2019 in the former Thringstone Sure Start Centre. Little Acorns provides quality childcare provision for 2 and 3 year olds in a purpose built environment suitable for little learners. The pre-school shares the school grounds and the children are able to use the primary school's facilities including the MUGA (Multi-use games area), a large playing field, trim trails and the forest schools areas.

Little Acorns is open during term time from 8.45am - 3.30pm with morning, afternoon or full day sessions available. The pre-school accepts 15 hours FEEE funding for eligible 2 year olds and 15 or 30 hours funding for 3 and 4 year olds.

Fresh hot dinners can also be provided from the school kitchen for those children who stay for lunch, although parents can send a packed lunch if preferred.

The pre-school has two large rooms for separate age groups and a smaller room that is set to become a sensory room. The space is perfect for 2 to 4 year olds to have a variety of experiences to prepare them for school and to encourage independent learning. Following the EYFS curriculum the staff select topics based on children's interests and work in small groups so learning is age and ability appropriate.

The pre-school has a secure outdoor area with grass, sand, soil and outdoor resources. It leads off one of the main rooms so learning can naturally flow from indoors to outdoors.
